We see church as a place where people encounter the power, presence and love of God. A family who are being transformed to be more like Jesus and a people who intentionally love and serve the communities they live in.
Encounter: We believe that God is real and relevant for our lives today, that we can know him through the work of the Holy Spirit and that anyone can experience God this way! We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring healing, peace, restoration and freedom to our lives. We believe that we can know God’s presence and we are passionate about pursing this through worship and prayer. We want people to know God’s Love, his forgiveness, who he has made them to be.
Transformation: We know that none of us are the finished article and as Christians we want to become more like Jesus. We create opportunities for this through reading and discussing the bible together and recognise the role we each have in helping each other grow in our faith.
Family: We are a community that is invitational and always looking to welcome everyone and anyone! Growing and shaping each other as we discover and live out our faith together.
Intentional living: We believe that church isn’t just a building or something that happens on a Sunday, and we are passionate about helping people to live out their faith fully in the situations they find themselves in day to day, and intentionally look for ways to love and serve those around them.
We are an independent church but as you might have guessed we are part of the Vineyard movement of local Churches.
Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland exists to participate in the advancement of the Kingdom of God through the work of local Vineyard churches that communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and practise.
We summarise this as Extending God’s Kingdom together, everywhere in every way..
We are Rachael and Tom Kettle, we recently moved to Orkney from Aberdeen where we were part of Catalyst Vineyard Church.
Rachael grew up in Orkney before moving to Aberdeen, she loves cooking and could live at the beach! We both love climbing and Tom is happiest when he’s out exploring the great outdoors!
We are both passionate about seeing the Kingdom renew communities and people encounter God. We are excited to have moved to Orkney to put down more roots and to plant Orkney vineyard church!
Favourite part of the Bible
Isaiah – most specifically chapter 58!
Favourite part of the Bible
The letters, but if you pinned me down it might be the last chapter of John. I love the picture of Jesus having a last BBQ at the beach before going back to the father!
If you are just exploring what church is or who Jesus is and what it could mean for you we would love to help.
